For those of you wishing to obtain the lovely rose named for Headway please contact the growers direct: RV Rogers 01751 472226 or via their website www.rvroger.co.uk (search ‘Headway’ rose).
Roses need to be reserved now for delivery as a bare root rose between November and March. Currently they have approximately 80 available but be quick, they are becoming very popular.

On Friday 18th May we once again donned our hats to celebrate #HatsForHeadway day…an important day helping to raise awareness for acquired brain injuries.

Phil Ansell and Stuart Bourner of the Cinque Ports Lodge in Sandwich presented us with a cheque for £2,151 following fundraising their members had done in aid of Headway East Kent.

In Folkestone Headway House last week the group enjoyed a visit from Hayley, who on behalf of Bunnings UK, organised a ‘Birdwatch’ activity.
Our clients made lard and seed feeders to encourage birds into their gardens.
Thank you to Hayley for her enthusiasm and to Bunnings UK who offer such great support of local charities within their community.

At Headway East Kent, we are always happy to welcome supporters to visit our day centres and meet with our clients to see how they benefit from attending our groups.
on the 18th January 2018, Eric Cook and his wife Susan came along not only to enjoy a coffee and chat but to present us with a cheque for £1000 on behalf of the Sandgate Lodge Freemasons.
On Behalf of all at Headway East Kent, we would like to say a big thank you, and it was a pleasure to get to meet you both and have you spend time at our Folkestone Headway House.

On Wednesday 15th November, Headway Folkestone welcomed some visitors.
Alan Myers, president of the Folkestone Channel Rotary Club, Bill Whitby, who was the Channel 50 Challenge event organiser, Duncan Hopkin, Channel Rotary PR, and Jane Pearman with Scooby from Hypo Hounds.
Back in June, people were offered the chance to sign up to this cycle challenge and take on a choice of 3 different circular routes along Kent’s Romney Marsh, riding 10, 30 or 50 miles, all raising money and awareness in aid of both Headway East Kent and Hypo Hounds.
Wednesday, our visitors presented both Hypo Hounds and ourselves with a cheque for £3,500, which was split 50/50, meaning Headway East Kent received and amazing £1,750.00.
This money will go towards funding for tutors in each of our five day centres across East Kent.
We would once again like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for all your hard work.

Yesterday evening Catherine, Folkestone client rep and Gareth, one of our devoted Folkestone volunteers joined Liz- Folkestone Facilitator, at the Presentation Evening for the class winners of the Venetian Fete held in August of this year.
For those that are not aware…Headway Folkestone gained First Place in the class “Best Illuminated Float”!

On Wednesday 25th October at Headway House Folkestone, David Harvey and Bill Newns, from Folkestone Lions Club came to the Day Centre and presented us with a cheque for £600.
This was money raised through the sale of a yearly cryptic quiz sheet, which is written and produced by Bill. It is something the clients now also look forward to joining in each year, testing their skills and knowledge.
We would like to say a huge “thank you” to David, Bill and all the Folkestone Lions for this very generous donation and continued support throughout the years.

When new client rep Catherine joined the Folkestone day centre, she took it upon herself to begin organising social events for her fellow clients, which is no easy task.
We all at some stage in our life, have organised nights out, parties, events etc, and all know how stressful and what a full on job it can be. So now imagine that, coupled with having sustained a brain injury causing you fatigue, brain fog, and other cognitive issues causing the inability to handle certain tasks expected of you that would ordinarily not cause you as an individual much of an issue.
We think our clients do an amazing job coping with day to day life following their brain injuries, and to organise an event for their fellow Headway East Kent members from scratch, without any assistance is definitely worth sharing with you all.
Our Headway members prove that life doesn’t have to end following a brain injury, and here are some photos of their night out at the weekend to show that.

We like to keep active here at Headway East Kent, as a health body promotes a healthy mind, and over at our Canterbury branch they like to do things differently, in the form of Chair Base Zumba!
A fantastic and fun way to keep fit and motivated, here are some snap shots of the guys over at Canterbury displaying their certificates of achievement.
A relatively new scheme we have implemented here at Headway East Kent which allows clients to work towards aims and goals they have chosen to work towards as part of their rehabilitation during their time at Headway East Kent, and of course, where possible, we strive to help our clients accomplish those goals.
