Today we are spotlighting Jordan, one of our volunteers at our Thanet Hub, who returns to his studies at university this week.
Jordan has been volunteering for Headway Kent for over two years having first joined us as part of his six form work experience.
Since then he has become a familiar face for anyone who has been to the hub during the acidemic holidays.
Asked what kept bringing him back, Jordan said "Through my work experience at sixth formcomfortable around the staff and clients at headway, getting to know them and there routines. And as a person with autism this helps me feel less anxious and more comfortable going there regularly."
He also came to realise the many difficulties clients faced saying he had learnt "just how much the media and stereotypes have warped people's perception of head injury survivors"
As for the biggest challenge he faced? Making sure he got the hang of the clients drinks orders at tea break.
If you are thinking of volunteering, Jordan has this advice to offer new volunteers "you should leave all stereotypes at the door as I found that none of them can do the clients justice." and "don't be shy or scared as none of the clients will bite."
