Welcoming the Next Generation of Student Ambassadors with Worthgate School

Today, Helen, our amazing Coordinator, met with Robin Cousins the Director of Higher Education at Worthgate School Canterbury as we prepare to welcome a brand-new cohort of student ambassadors this September.

Robin said, "With the amazing support of Headway Kent, students at the Worthgate School are able to fully prepare for careers in Medicine, Healthcare and Clinical Sciences. Through Headway Kent's Ambassador Programme, our students experience work placement, raising money for charity and raising awareness of Headway Kent and brain injury in the local community."

The Student Ambassador Scheme is a unique partnership between Headway Kent and local schools. Ambassadors are pupils who volunteer their time to represent and support Headway Kent. They help raise awareness of acquired brain injury (ABI), organise fundraising activities, and learn valuable skills in leadership, empathy, and teamwork.

For the students, being an ambassador is a chance to:

Gain hands-on experience in community engagement

Build confidence through fundraising and awareness campaigns

Develop leadership and organisational skills that will benefit them in further education and employment

For our clients living with brain injury, the scheme means so much more. Student ambassadors bring fresh energy, kindness, and support to our events, helping us raise vital funds that keep our services running. They also act as champions in the wider community, spreading understanding about the daily challenges of brain injury survivors.

We are proud of our strong partnership with Worthgate School. Their commitment to helping us deliver brain injury support across Kent is invaluable. The fundraising carried out by students directly helps us provide rehabilitation, community hubs, and family support to those who need it most. Last year the student rasied £702 and we cant thank them enough for all their hardwork.
