Date: 2nd June 2026
Last Friday, clients and staff from Headway Kent were delighted to take part in the annual Boccia Tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Dover. This much-anticipated event once again brought together a wide range of local organisations, community groups and charities for a day filled with friendly competition, teamwork and fun.
At Headway Kent, we strongly believe in the value of partnership working and the positive impact that community connections can have on the lives of people living with acquired brain injury. Events such as this provide a wonderful opportunity for our clients to meet new people, build confidence, develop social skills and enjoy inclusive activities in a supportive environment.
As always, the tournament was played in great spirits, with plenty of laughter, encouragement and healthy competition throughout the day. Our team put in a fantastic effort and, in a display of remarkable consistency, narrowly missed out on a semi-final place by just one point – exactly the same result as last year!
While we may not have reached the semi-finals, the real success of the day was seeing our clients enjoying themselves, supporting one another and taking part in an event that celebrates inclusion, friendship and community engagement. The smiles, camaraderie and sense of achievement demonstrated by everyone involved were what truly mattered.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Rotary Club of Dover for their continued support of Headway Kent and the wider community. Their hard work in organising the tournament, arranging the venue and providing lunch for all participants helped make the day such a success. We are incredibly grateful for their ongoing commitment to creating opportunities that bring people together and promote wellbeing.
Partnerships like these are invaluable to our charity and help us continue our mission of improving life after brain injury through rehabilitation, support and social inclusion.
Thank you once again to the Rotary Club of Dover and to all the organisations that took part. We are already looking forward to next year's tournament – same time, same place and, if history is anything to go by, perhaps even the same result!
