As we are sure you are aware there have been many different pieces of advice being shared about with regards on how to stay safe during the coronavirus outbreak – which can become very confusing.

Our recommendation is you follow the advice from the NHS website which can be accessed by clicking on the following link; COVID-19 stay at home advice

Here you will find the best-recommended advice and further links to the 111 coronavirus service and getting medical help from home.

Stay safe, and where possible stay at home, this will help keep you safe and help the fight to stop the spread.

Press Release – Please read

For over 30 years Headway East Kent has provided Day Centres in East Kent for people with an acquired brain injury. These are safe places for our clients and now, as we watch the COVID 19 events unfold across the UK, we need to take further measures in order to protect our clients. After careful consideration, we have taken the decision to close all 5 Day Centre as of Monday 23 March 2020. This is a decision we have not taken lightly and we do so with great sadness, however, the need to keep everyone safe means we have no other choice.

As you are aware this is a dynamic situation with events changing day to day. We will keep abreast of all new Government announcements and we will reopen the Day Centres when the risk posed to our clients, staff, volunteers and students has been significantly reduced.

If you need any support you can call our Day Centres from Tuesday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm, where one of the centre facilitators will be happy to talk to you. If you have any out of hours’ enquiries or concerns, please call our Area Manager, Jenny Walsh on 07860 226682 or email jwalsh@headwayeastkent.org.uk.

We thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.

As we are sure many of you are aware, measures are being taken in all businesses and organisations to minimise the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The health and well-being of our service users, carers, staff and volunteers is paramount and many do fall into the vulnerable category,
and so we want to minimise the risk where possible of any chance of the virus being brought into our day centres.

We are of course taking every measure possible to keep the risk to a minimum, following official guidelines we have currently been provided with. It is, for this reason, we feel it appropriate to postpone all public fundraising events, client outings and any public speakers/outside visitors coming to our day centres with immediate effect until we have received official confirmation that the virus risk has been minimised and are able to return to business as usual. This includes the GALA DINNER, AFTERNOON TEA and AGM. For those who have made payments for the Gala dinner or afternoon tea could you kindly contact us via email at folkestone@headwayeastkent.org.uk

We thank you for your understanding and will update you as and when we know more and are able to reschedule our events.

Many thanks
Headway East Kent team

Oh yes, it’s ladies night…and oh what a night it was! A fantastic night full of fun and laughter and lots of bargains!

Back by popular demand we once again held our third (and by far the best to date) Ladies Night at Folkestone on Friday 6th March 2020.  With 60+ guests in attendance, corks were certainly popping and glasses were clinking!

We kicked off the night with an auction of a wide selection of new and preloved designer ladies wear – swiftly followed by the bargain rails being unveiled!

Thank you to all our wonderful guests for your support, for all those who so generously donated the amazing items for the event, and to all who helped give their time to help set up and model – as a result we raised an incredible £2,163.20 cheers 🥂 ladies.

See you in November!
