On Tuesday, Valentines Day at Folkestone we welcomed the Dover group for a Valentines themed get-together, and a little 50th birthday surprise for Barry our minibus driver nice to see you all, a fun time had by all!
Here is a photo of the new Sea Life project the Canterbury branch started in the new year…
“We started our Sea life project at the beginning of this year. The clients began their project by creating the background which depicts the different depths of the sea, and we looked at the different colours. The clients then worked together and chose the preferred sea which they wanted to represent in their project, this was the Mediterranean.”
We are now looking at all the different types of colourful fish there are and we are looking at what lies at the bottom in the darkest parts of the sea this week. The clients have been researching online for unusual fish, coral and seaweeds, which we have been displaying them on the day centre T.V. for everyone to see.”
On the 17th January at Folkestone we had a surprise visit from Jenny Barling of JAY BEE COACH TRAVEL. Jenny and her customers had been collecting loose change donations on their coach trips on behalf of Headway East Kent after being nominated by Eileen one of our Tuesday ladies, today a cheque was presented to us for £850!
Thank you all for such an amazing amount and for raising awareness of our charity.
On the 13th December we were invited to attend The Grand Hotel on the Leas in Folkestone to have festive photographs taken with the staff. This past year Headway East Kent have been their chosen charity of the year. What an unexpected surprise to also receive a cheque for £257.32 from Robert, Victoria & staff members. Thank you all very much.
Kevin Marlow, a supporter of Headway East Kent and professional photographer gave up
some on his time by facilitating Photography Workshops for the clients at each of our branches. Here is a photo when Kevin got to present each of the clients of Headway Thanet with their certificates for the completion of the course.
Well done all.
